The moose is the most impressive animal in North America, and there are several dozen living on Dégelis’ vast 115 sq. km territory! Throughout the summer, it is possible to observe this majestic animal on the edge of lakes and rivers, on our roads, and even watch them swim in the waters all around the outfitter.
The moose seeks out luxurious deciduous forests, which represent the main nutrition of this magnificent species of the deer family. A large area of the Pourvoirie du Lac Dégelis territory is made up of these deciduous trees while its surroundings are dominated by the coniferous variety. One of the ways to ensure moose have an abundance of food is to monitor the reproductive success. In a suitable habitat, females often give birth to twins, which is frequently observed in Dégelis!
